The Color Suite Sari Brown’s long-awaited sophomore release, “The Color Suite,” tells a story of longing, grief, and healing written in dreams and about dreams, and elaborates a plot of symbolic resonance and uncanny synchronistic coincidences. Its sonic interior is inhabited by gritty, textured doo-wop harmonies, lonesome farmhouse piano, reinvented rummage-shop percussion and weathered, wistful, late-night ukulele. In its accompanying book, a poem, story, letter or dream fragment matches each song to connect the narrative threads. Featured backing musicians include Earthwork Music artists Daisy May, Jen Sygit, Laura Bates and Susan Fawcett; Dan Piccolo of Starbrand and The New Green as well as Nomo and Cloud 8 fame; Joey Dosik of My Dear Disco; and Katie Grace of Jen Sygit and Spare Change. The album is available on CD Baby, and Mp3s are available on iTunes and other major digital distributors. Listen to clips by clicking on the songs below: Tracks

For What is the Journey Sari’s debut album, released May 7th, 2004, is a project that seeks to explore inner spirituality from a vulnerably personal perspective; from the perspective of hope, despair, traveling, wondering, working, and waiting. It is about only you, and it is about everybody. Both reveling and reverent, these songs sound like music of commonplace divinity made in a shack in mid-Michigan on a rainy day for someone you love.
