the creator

today i don’t want to be me
and i mention today irrelevantly
today i want to be everything
to be one thing seems too small,
and not as pretty

today i write names and stories
in the margins of this page
what does it mean? not anything
crickets sing in a chorus;
there’s no self to gauge

and i would like a name in every language
or i would like a name that everybody has
and i would like to be the creator
everybody is the creator
(the something greater)

maybe when i die
i’ll become dust floating in the sky
maybe bye & bye
i’ll become less like myself
and more like the sky
